Pokémon Violet takes you to Paldea, a vast open area where you can travel freely between towns, caves, and wild zones. The structure is more open than previous games, allowing you to decide the order of your challenges. You'll encounter both new regional forms and debuting Pokémon that make each zone unique.

The game is based on exploration, small side quests, and battles where you can combine different types to create strong teams. It's easy to get started, but there are plenty of systems to delve into if you want.

The Violet version includes exclusive Pokémon and unique details that distinguish it from Scarlet.

Three main tracks that can be played in any order

The game has three major story tracks: traditional Gym Battles, the Team Star line, and the Titan Pokémon quests. You can follow one track at a time or switch between them depending on what you feel like. This keeps the pace consistent and allows you to tailor the adventure to your playstyle.

The Terrastral feature and new ways to battle

The Terrastral feature allows Pokémon to change type into a crystallized form, opening up new combinations and strategies. It adds depth to battles and makes even simple encounters more interesting if you choose the right time to change form.

Combined with the open-ended structure, this allows you to test different teams and playing styles during the game.
